Xiong Ni, The Image Ambassador Of WOWI®

WOWI® spirit is to take up challenges and unceasingly to explore and develop products of high quality and technology. WOWI® represents constant quest for scaling new heights in both quality and production techniques.

During the 27th Olympic Games, Xiong Ni, a champion of men's 3M springboard was determined to win and never gave up. WOWI® and Xiong share the same spirit.

Xiong Ni lost to Greg Louganis at the 1988 Seoul Olympics but his brisk performance was still remembered by many today. He fought back at the 1992 Barcelona Games, managing to get a bronze medal for inability to overcome the strain on himself. At the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, he finally won men's 10M platform diving title after eight whole years. In 1997, he retired. However, seeing that Dmitri Saoutine of Russia dominated in both men's 10M platform and 3M springboard, he thought that he could not just sit back. He had an urge to train himself up. Decidedly he staged his comeback at last. During the 27th Olympic Games, he was lagging behind for the first few rounds. Nonetheless, he picked himself up and remained calm in adversity. His determination to win and never to give up finally paid off. He beat Saoutine to win a gold medal in men's 3M springboard.

It is difficult for an athlete to win a gold medal even with severe training. This is equally true for an entrepreneur to create an international brand. Both of them have to ceaselessly strive hard to overcome numerous difficulties. Xiong Ni's unfaltering spirit is just the same as that of the founder of WOWI® watches.

Xiong Ni - Champion of Men's 3M Springboard and Men's Synchronized 3M Springboard at the Sydney 2000 Olympics

Xiong Ni from Chang Sha, Hunan joined the national diving team in 1986. He narrowly lost to American Greg Louganis by just 1.14 points and had to settle for silver in men's 10M platform at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, he was awarded a bronze on the highboard. Only at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics could he be able to realize his dream to win the gold medal at the men's 3M springboard after 8 whole years. He retired after he had won the title at the National Games in 1997 but returned in 1998.

As per Reuter's information, he made a good start to defend his Olympic 3M springboard title at the Sydney Olympics where he won the highest score in the preliminary round. Yet, it seemed that it was not his day. He was lagging behind Saoutine by over 30 points after the second round. The gold medal was expected to go to Saoutine as Saoutine was the reigning Olympic highboard champion and had just won a gold in men's Synchronized 10M platform. Yet, his determination to win and never to give up turned the table. He rose to the occasion and pulled off his concluding inward 3.5 somersaults with tuck to score 81.6 and defeated the Mexican by 0.3 points with a total of 708.72 points. He was the second diver in history to win medals at four Olympic Games after Italy's Klaus Dibiasi. He also made a brilliant success in Chinese Olympic diving history by winning another gold medal with Xiao Hailiang in men's synchronized 3M springboard. His victory not only peaked his career but also was a boost to the confidence of the Chinese diving athletes.
